Postponement of AFL Riverina Competitions

This afternoon AFL Riverina received advice from the AFL that all junior and senior leagues and NAB AFL Auskick centre programs should postpone the commencement and operation of their leagues and programs due to the COVID-19 virus.

AFL Riverina wishes to confirm that all football & netball competitions, practice games and training are suspended until 31 May 2020. This includes:

  • Riverina Football & Netball League
  • Farrer Football & Netball League
  • Wagga & District Junior Football & Netball League
  • South West Juniors Football & Netball League
  • Southern NSW Women’s AFL competition
  • South West Youth Girls AFL competition
  • Wagga & District Youth Girls AFL competition

As AFL Riverina have netball competitions as part of our competitions, we have also received the Netball NSW advice that competitions should be suspended until 2 May 2020 but the AFL Riverina Board has taken the decision that the AFL recommendation will apply across all football & netball competitions that we govern.

This situation presents many questions and in the coming days AFL Riverina will provide further communications and guidance including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

AFL Riverina will look to establish a Working Party and will organise teleconference meetings with clubs to update all on the path forward.
