2021 McDonalds SNSW Women’s Competition off to a flier!

The 2021 McDonalds SNSW Women’s Competition began with a bang on Friday evening with games played at three picture perfect venues across the Riverina.
The opening round began at Gumly Oval for a double header featuring perennial favourites CSU taking on debutants G.G.G.M. CSU had to work hard for the result in a game that saw the Lions show plenty of promise of some fantastic footy to come for the rest of the season. In the other Gumly game home side EWK managed to see off the continually improving Brookdale Bluebells. Several new recruits for the Hawks were dominant and it is clear the East Wagga side will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
In the other games Collingullie kicked off their Women’s footy journey with a win at Narrandera Sportsground and were defensively impressive in their first ever game keeping the Eagles to only three behinds. Narrandera never stopped trying and are another team looking to improve this season.
And in Griffith the Swans hosted the North Wagga Saints in what was expected to be a tough first round clash. The Saints picked up were they left off last season and were merciless in their 52 to 6 demolition. Griffith will be looking to bounce back next week against the emerging G.G.G.M Lions.
