NSW/ACT climb ACFC ladder
The Blues prevailed over South Australia to win by just 8 points in the second final of the day.
After leading by 20 points at the first break, NSW/ACT held their lead for the rest of the game.
South Australia battled to keep in touch, mounting a spirited comeback when they piled on 23 points in the third quarter.
However, NSW/ACT kept their composure to take the game and third spot on the final ladder.
An ecstatic NSW/ACT coach Jason McPherson said he was pleased with the result, despite the team not performing to its potential.
“We’re really happy with that. To finish last the last two carnivals and then to finish third here is a fantastic result,” he said.
“I don’t think we under achieved, but we didn’t over achieve. I think that’s definitely where we were at and we can work on that for the future.”
Lavington’s Brant Dickson was best for NSW/ACT, joined by Corowa Rutherglen’s Kade Kuschert and Barham Koondrock’s Lucas Matthews in the points.
Josh Maher, Matthew Round and Luke Garland all kicked two goals in the NSW/ACT’s haul of 11, while captain Joel Mackie, Lucas Matthews and Brant Dickson chipped in with one each.
For South Australia, Scott Wendleborn was named best, followed by George Pedler and Tyson Wait.
