South West JFNL ends season on high
The South West JFNL held its annual presentation night at the Temora Golf Club last week to celebrate the outstanding contribution of volunteers and players over the 2012 season.
The annual presentation was held after the completion of the preliminary final matches and attracted more than 200 people from all the clubs involved in the competition.
Awards were presented to footballers in the Under 11s, 13s and 15s competitions and the netballers in the under 11s and 13s competitions.
Griffith Giants took out the 2012 Club Championship and Robert Kelly from the club also picked up the Coach of the Year award on the night.
Volunteer of the Year winner Andrew Corbett (GGGM) thanked his fellow club members for their “tremendous support” throughout the season. As part of his prize Corbett received a copy of the Tom Wills biography by Greg De Moore and encouraged everyone to read the book to get “a great insight into how our great game started.”
Voting for the Best and Fairest awards was extremely close, and in some cases there was only one point separating first and second.
Geoff Walker from the Northern Jets was named Auskick Coordinator of the Year, and will go into the running to be named the national winner and receive an all expenses paid trip to the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
Temora umpire Dallas McKelvie took out the Umpire of the Year award for his excellent efforts officiating during the season.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches and volunteers from the netball and football clubs for a fantastic season.
