The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have completed their first 3km time trial of this year’s pre-season campaign at Sydney Olympic Park.
On the second day of pre-season the GIANTS players tested their aerobic capacity, with NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Toby Greene winning the time trial for the first time.
GIANTS Head of Sports Science John Quinn said that his staff were impressed with Greene’s performance.
“Greeny streaked home, we were really happy with the way he was running” Quinn said.
Quinn said that while the results across the board were pleasing, he was particularly impressed with nineteen year-old Kurt Aylett, who returned from an ACL injury in July 2012 and finished fifth in the trial.
“The really impressive one was Kurt Aylett,” he said.
“To have him up in the top five and running a time from a baseline that is an elite midfielders level is great.
“He’s come off an ACL and his rehab has been exemplary.
“He’s made a statement to the coaching group, the playing group and to himself. It’s a vindication of all the work he’s done.”
