After two days of testing, the GIANTS hit the ground running with a skills session in the heat at their home ground.
GIANTS Senior Assistant Coach Leon Cameron, who will take over as Head Coach in 2014, said that he has been impressed by the culture and work ethic that he has encountered at the club.
“The lads have come back for pre-season and they’ve had a good break. It was their first official training run in terms of the balls today, they also had some testing last week,” Cameron said.
“Everyone has made myself feel really welcome at the footy club, the players are great, the coaches are really good and we’ve got a good group of people here.
“What this club has done since I have arrived has been enormous and I’m really happy to be a part of it now.”
Cameron said that while he was impressed with the calibre of exciting young talent on the GIANTS list, there was a lot of hard work to be done if the GIANTS are to achieve long term success.
“People are going to build it up because of the talent that we’ve got but there’s a lot to go in the melting pot: hard work, good coaching, great people and holding on to these kids.
“We’re trying to get our membership up to 5,000 before Christmas and if we can do that it will be absolutely outstanding.
“One thing that I can say is we’ve got an excitable young group, a great bunch of staff and we’re really looking forward to the future,” Cameron said.
