GIANT support for Smith Family
Together with ŠKODA, Lifebroker and Lend Lease, the GIANTS have donated family memberships for select families across Western Sydney to be included in their Smith Family Christmas packs.
GIANTS players and coaching staff have also generously donated their time to help pack some of the 1,400 gift packs of toys and book to be delivered to children and their families on the weekend.
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the GIANTS were looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community this Christmas.
“Christmas can be a tough time for many and as a club we wanted to be able to do something special for some those families close to us in Western Sydney,” Matthew said.
“Our partners, particularly ŠKODA, Life Broker and Lend Lease and they jumped at the chance to help us in provide family memberships for those who otherwise would not be able to afford it.
“We are extremely proud to be able to work with the Smith Family and our corporate partners for this important initiative.
“Through the Smith Family we were able to identify the families that would best benefit from these packs and hopefully bring a little extra joy this Christmas.”
Last weekend, some of the GIANTS players were on hand to load some of the 100 vehicles departing from the Sydney Showground in Homebush before they made their way around Sydney to drop off the packs.
Over the Christmas period more than 370 volunteers have given their time in NSW to The Smith Family to collect, pack and deliver toys and books. Nationally this figure stands at over 1,800.
The Smith Family’s Christmas Appeal is aiming to raise $4.65 million to provide families with support for education throughout the year. To donate call 1800 024 069 or visit www.thesmithfamily.com.au.
