‘Special’ Sam makes an impression

Carlton vice-captain Kade Simpson says teammate Sam Rowe’s performances have been nothing short of remarkable considering he has only recently recovered from cancer.
The Riverina product has only missed one match this season since debuting in the Blues’ Round 2 clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
Rowe was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2012, but made a return to football just eight months after undergoing chemotherapy.
Simpson told The Border Mail that he was in awe of Rowe’s achievement.
“He’s been unbelievable,” said Simpson.
“It’s a remarkable story.
“For him to be back just playing footy is a great story, let alone to be playing at the highest level.”
Simpson said that Rowe’s positive attitude made him a popular member of the football club.
“He’s a very light-hearted and easy going fella,” said Simpson.
“Even when he was going through his chemotherapy last year he was always up and about around the club and never complaining.
“It takes a special person to be able to do that.
“He never really got down on himself or down on the world.
“He is a remarkable person.”
