New representative mentor
RIVERINA Football League has secured Coolamon premiership coach Matt Hard (pictured) as the man to lead its charge into a new representative era.
RFL president Robert Ash pinpointed Hard as the one for the top job and got his man with the competition’s most recent premiership coach appointed after a meeting last weekend.
Hard replaces Troy Maiden as representative coach, who announced last month that he would step down after four years in the role to take up an assistant coach position at Corowa-Rutherglen.
RFL will take on Picola League South East at Tocumwal on May 24 and Hard is looking forward to the new task in front of him.
“Obviously I was fortunate enough to play a bit of it in my day and I have always been a big advocate for rep footy,” Hard said yesterday.
“So when it came up, I’ve got a few things going on but I was more than happy to take it on.”

Hall of fame?

THE first steps have been taken towards the introduction of an AFL Riverina Hall of Fame.
The topic was brought up for consideration by Riverina Football League president Robert Ash at AFL Riverina’s annual general meeting.
AFL Riverina then took the concept to the Riverina and Farrer League delegates meeting where clubs have been asked to consider people to stand on a Hall of Fame committee.
It was originally hoped to introduce the Hall of Fame this year but given the magnitude of the project it is believed a 2015 gala night, at the earliest, is considered more realistic.
