Swans greats honoured at HOF Gala
Sydney Swans premiership star Michael O’Loughlin is a new inductee into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, while the game’s leading goalkicker Tony Lockett was afforded Legend status.
Lockett, who holds the all-time goals record with 1360 goals from a decorated 281-game career between 1983-2002, including topping the century in six separate seasons, was named as the 26th Legend in the game’s history at last night’s Australian Football Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, held in Melbourne.
Along with the man known as ‘Magic’ a further five people were inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame at the function – Jason Akermanis, Peter Bell, Bob Hammond, Neil Roberts and Austin Robertson.
The Australian Football Hall of Fame was established in 1996 and serves to recognise players, coaches, umpires, administrators, and media representatives who have made an outstanding contribution to Australian football.
