The popular 26-year-old Leeton High School teacher, who grew up in the Central West town of Canowindra, disappeared on Easter Saturday a week before she was due to be married.
Two brothers, one a cleaner at the school, are in custody in connection with her death.
Riverina Lions Assistant Coach and Captain, Julie McLean, says ‘Scotty Day’ saw the team wearing yellow jumpers to defeat Canberra’s Molonglo.
“Steph was a valued member for us playing over three different seasons playing for the Riverina Lions when she was a university student here,” she said.
“So we forged great friendships and have many great memories of her at our club.
“We wanted to make something positive rather than a sad day so we wanted to honour her.
“We had a great day just remembering all the good times and plenty of laughs.”
