U16 RAMS National Championships
After an encouraging start NSW/ACT struggled to match it with Queensland in the second half of their Under 16 Division 2 National Championships decider, going down by 21 points at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast.
It was tight every step of the way in the first half, but Queensland came out to play after half time and dominated all over the field.
Nathan Richards was outstanding in the final game of the championships, taking out best on ground honours for NSW/ACT.
Ruled out with injury prior to the decider, Albury’s Charlie Spargo had done enough in the first two games to be awarded NSW/ACT MVP and take out the A McLean Medal for best player in Division 2, an outstanding achievement.
The RAMS beat NT and Tasmania in their opening two games, with Saturday’s loss confining NSW/ACT to second spot in the Division 2 standings.
