RFNL A Grade Best and Fairest – Claire Doyle

TURVEY Park netballer Claire Doyle has been rewarded for a stellar debut season with victory in Riverina League’s A grade league best and fairest.

 

Doyle was crowed Riverina League’s A grade netball medallist at Tuesday night’s presentation night at Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club.

 

Doyle joined Turvey Park this season from Finley and enjoyed an outstanding year as goal keeper. She polled 24 votes to edge out Wagga Tigers pair Lana Duffy (21 votes) and Olivia Tilyard (20 votes) in an exciting finish.Collingullie-Glenfield Park’s Flynn Hogg (19 votes) and Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong’s Brooke Walsh (18 votes), last year’s winner, rounded out the top five.

 

Tilyard was also took out as Riverina League’s A grade rising star award.

 

In the A reserve vote count, Leeton-Whitton’s Grace Korovata (22 votes) scored a six-vote victory from Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes’ Jaimee Smith (16 votes).

 

The B grade count was a thriller with MCUE’s Shannon Seaman and Leeton-Whitton’s Carley Graham unable to be separated. They shared the award with 28 votes apiece.

 

Turvey Park’s Hannah Hurst won the C grade best and fairest, while Griffith’s Noel Barone won the inaugural Kathryn Bechaz Medal for the under 17s.

 

The medal was unveiled in Bechaz’s honour on Tuesday night.
