AFL RIVERINA IS PLEASED TO RELEASE THE 2019 SEASON DRAW FOR THE FARRER FNL AND RIVERINA FNL.

A blockbuster season for Football and Netball is just around the corner for the Farrer and Riverina Football Netball Leagues with the release of their respective draws today.

Once again teams will take to the field and court, reigniting decade long rivalries, as well as celebrating various milestones in their club’s histories. A breakdown of must watch games can be found below:

Riverina Football Netball League

Good Friday Football and Netball

The Turvey Park Bulldogs will host the Wagga Tigers on Good Friday (19th April 2019). This is a first time in over 20 Years Football and Netball will be played on Good Friday, showcasing two of the proudest clubs in the Riverina. It’s sure to draw to a huge crowd as a standalone fixture, with the Tigers looking to turn around a disappointing 2018 Season and the Bulldogs looking to build something special at a club who has been starved of success in recent years. All other teams have the General Bye for the Easter Break.

Grand Final Rematch – Football

In what was one of the greatest Football Grand Final’s in recent memory, the Griffith Swans will be looking to get one back over the Collingullie GP Demons who are still bathing in success after their victory on the final day of the 2018 Season. With plenty of turnover at the Demons, and a Swans group hungry for revenge this Round One Fixture is sure to live up to its billing at Crossroads Oval. Looking forward to seeing the new look Demons forward line at work.

Grand Final Rematch – Netball

Unlike their Football counterparts the Demons Netballers we’re unsuccessful in their 2018 Grand Final and will be looking for redemption against the Wagga Tigers in Round 6 of the Riverina FNL at Robertson Oval. Last time these two teams met was a thrilling game with plenty of twists and turns and we expect this game to much the same. With Julie Cornell no longer at the helm for the Tigers it’ll be interesting to see how their season takes shape, whilst Collingullie GP will also have a new coach pulling the strings.

Farrer Football Netball League

ANZAC Games

The Marrar Bombers and TRYC Magpies will again showcase their ANZAC Spirit with their traditional Friday Night Fixture at Robertson Oval under lights in Round Four of the Farrer FNL Season. With plenty of passion and no love lost between these two long standing rivals were sure to see another hard fought game. Whilst on the Saturday the North Wagga Saints will host the EWK Hawks in their Anzac Fixture, both clubs are expected to feature late in the season, this will be a great first test for the two of them.

Grand Final Rematch – Football

The 2018 Grand Final Rematch is on hold for the first week of the Farrar FNL Season with Marrar’s favourite couple, Captain Josh Hagar and Maddy Block tying the knot. The Bombers will get their chance to unveil their Premiership Flag in front of their 2018 Grand Final opponents the North Wagga Saints and try to pick up their first win of the season in Round Two at Langtry Oval. Both clubs will draw a lot of attention this year as to whether they can sustain their level of performance seen in recent times.

Grand Final Rematch – Netball

TRYC Magpies were the fairy-tale story of the Farrar FNL Netball Season coming from third to go undefeated throughout the finals series, including knocking off their 2019 Round 6 opponents the CSU Bushsows.  This will be another exciting chapter of this growing rivalry. CSU will play host to the Magpies with both teams spoilt for talent and looking to make their mark early in the season, this is sure to be a must watch game of A Grade Netball.

Same day Football/Netball is a staple for many of the clubs across the Riverina, and we look forward to plenty of these in 2019, showcasing the fantastic pathway available within clubs, from their Auskick and Net-Set-Go beginners, all the way through to their seasoned First Grade and A Grade Veterans. The South West JFNL fixture will be released prior to the Christmas break, whilst the Wagga & District JFNL fixture will be released early in the new year once the competitions structure is finalised.
