Riverina Bluebell Cup 2024

On Saturday July 6 The Riverina Bluebell Cup will be contested in both
Riverina and Farrer leagues. In the RFL Coolamon and Collingullie
Ashmont will face off again and in the Farrer League North Wagga and
Rivcoll will do battle. For those who don't know Riverina Bluebell is a
locally based fully volunteer mental health awareness organisation. The
Riverina Bluebell Cup has been played for in both leagues for a number
of years and has been contested by a number of different clubs. The
format is that all points scored by all football and netball teams are
added and the club with the highest aggregate takes home the cup. By
using this format all players from the youngest juniors through to the
seniors all contribute for their club.

The club environment is a great thing for the mental health of those
involved, not just players but also officials and supporters as it gives
people a distraction from the grind of daily life and a sense of
belonging. There is a tribal aspect when you have competition between
clubs and their respective towns which reinforces that sense of
belonging which is a critical aspect of mental wellbeing.

On Our Riverina Bluebell merchandise you will see the phrase "You are
not alone" which is something to remember at all times especially if you
are struggling with your mental health. Being involved in a team or club
highlights this as each member has to work toward the same goal (no pun
intended). If we look out for each other both on and off the field we
will enhance the club and life experience and maybe avert any potential
tragedies.

We at Riverina Bluebell wish all those involved the best of luck on the
day, we will have representatives at each match so feel free to talk to
us on the day.
